Hindsight Audio Privacy Policy

Hindsight Audio is designed to help you save recent audio after you choose to start an active microphone session.

The app keeps a temporary rolling audio buffer on your device while Hindsight Mode is active. If you save a clip, that clip is stored locally on your device until you delete it. If you do not save audio, the buffer rolls forward and older audio is discarded.

Hindsight does not upload your rolling audio buffer or saved clips to Hindsight or Structured Solutions. Online services are used for Google Play purchases, subscription management, restoration, and verification.

This policy applies to Hindsight Audio (“Hindsight”, “we”, “us” or “our”). The responsible developer is Structured Solutions, as identified on Hindsight Audio’s Google Play listing.

1. Microphone Use

Hindsight uses your device microphone while Hindsight Mode is active.

  • User-started session: Hindsight Mode starts only after you choose START. On first use, Hindsight shows an acknowledgement before audio buffering starts.
  • Android permission: The app requests Android microphone permission before microphone access begins.
  • Visible status: Hindsight runs as an Android foreground service while the microphone is active and provides an ongoing system notification. Android may also show microphone privacy indicators depending on Android version and device.
  • Microphone source: A wired or USB headset microphone can be preferred from the in-app toggle when available. Bluetooth microphone support is not currently claimed as available.
  • No automatic restart capture: Hindsight does not automatically begin buffering audio when your phone restarts.

Notification visibility can depend on your Android version and notification settings. Android may show foreground-service activity in its notification area, active-app controls, or system task manager.

2. Voice Control

During an active Hindsight Mode session, Hindsight can listen locally for the phrase “Hindsight Capture.”

Voice-command processing is designed to run on your device. Turning off Voice Control (voice detection) disables this shortcut only; it does not stop the rolling buffer. Use STOP to end the microphone session and clear the current temporary buffer.

3. Temporary Buffer and Saved Clips

  • The rolling buffer is temporary and remains on your device.
  • Unsaved audio is automatically discarded as the buffer moves forward.
  • STOP asks for confirmation, ends Hindsight Mode, stops microphone use for the current session, and clears the current temporary buffer.
  • Once you confirm STOP, the temporary buffer cannot be restored.
  • Force-stopping the app or restarting the phone clears the temporary buffer.
  • Saved clips remain on your device until you delete them.
  • STOP does not delete saved clips already stored on your device.
  • Hindsight and Structured Solutions do not receive, upload, analyse, sell, or train AI on your rolling-buffer audio or saved clips.

Android may interrupt app operation because of operating-system restrictions, battery management, memory pressure, phone calls, OEM restrictions, or device conditions. Hindsight should not be treated as a guaranteed or permanent audio-capture system.

4. Sharing Saved Clips

Sharing is an UnBound feature. If you choose to share a saved clip through Android’s share menu, the clip is passed to the app or service you select.

Hindsight does not upload shared clips to Hindsight or Structured Solutions. Once a clip is passed to another app or service, that provider’s privacy practices and terms apply. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right and any required consent to share the audio.

5. Phone Calls

Hindsight does not record phone calls. If a phone call occurs while Hindsight Mode is active, the temporary buffer may continue, but phone-call audio is not saved by Hindsight.

6. Accounts and Audio Data

Hindsight does not require a Hindsight account or your email address to use the core app.

We do not:

  • upload your rolling audio buffer or saved clips for cloud processing;
  • use your audio for advertising;
  • sell your audio data; or
  • use your audio to train cloud AI systems.

7. Google Play Billing and RevenueCat

UnBound is offered as a subscription through Google Play. Google Play processes the purchase under Google’s own terms and privacy policy.

Hindsight uses RevenueCat to manage, restore, and verify subscription access. To provide this service, RevenueCat may process:

  • an anonymous RevenueCat App User ID;
  • purchase and subscription history;
  • a Google purchase token;
  • subscription entitlement and status information;
  • app usage timestamps related to subscription management; and
  • technical information such as device type, operating system, app version, locale, and IP address.

This subscription information is used for app functionality, purchase validation, fraud prevention, customer support, and subscription analytics. RevenueCat does not receive your rolling audio buffer or saved clips from Hindsight.

8. Website Analytics

The Hindsight Audio website may use Google Analytics through Google’s gtag.js service to understand basic website usage, such as pages visited, approximate location, device/browser information, referring pages, and interaction events.

Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies. This website analytics does not give Hindsight or Structured Solutions access to your rolling audio buffer or saved clips. It is separate from the app’s on-device audio handling.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

Unsaved buffer audio is automatically discarded as the rolling buffer moves forward. STOP clears the current temporary buffer after confirmation. Force-stopping the app or restarting the phone also clears the temporary buffer.

Saved clips remain on your device until you delete them. STOP does not delete saved clips already stored on your device, and STOP does not cancel or change an UnBound subscription. Uninstalling the app may remove locally stored app data, subject to Android’s behaviour and any backups you have enabled.

Hindsight does not maintain a Hindsight account database. RevenueCat and Google Play retain purchase and subscription records according to their respective policies and legal obligations.

10. Children

Hindsight Audio is not designed for children and is not marketed as a children’s or family app.

11. Lawful Use and Consent

Recording laws vary by country, state, workplace, venue, and situation. You are responsible for ensuring your use of Hindsight is lawful and for obtaining any consent required from other people.

Hindsight is not legal advice and is not designed for undisclosed, unlawful, or non-consensual recording.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when Hindsight’s features, service providers, or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top identifies the latest version.
