Hindsight Audio Terms of Use

These Terms govern your use of the Hindsight Audio Android application and its related website. By using Hindsight, you agree to use it lawfully and responsibly.

1. What Hindsight Does

Hindsight is a user-started audio buffering and clip-saving tool.

It is designed to help you save recent audio from an active microphone session that you choose to start. Hindsight Mode keeps a temporary rolling buffer on your device and allows you to save selected recent audio as a local clip.

2. Your Responsibility

Recording, privacy, consent, and workplace laws vary by location and situation. You are responsible for ensuring your use of Hindsight complies with every law, policy, agreement, and consent requirement that applies to you.

3. No Unlawful or Non-Consensual Use

You must not use Hindsight for undisclosed, unlawful, or non-consensual recording, or for harassment, stalking, intimidation, or any use that violates required consent.

You must not use Hindsight to violate another person’s privacy, confidentiality, intellectual-property rights, or contractual rights.

4. Not Professional Advice

Hindsight does not provide legal, medical, financial, safety, or other professional advice.

Saved audio should not be treated as a substitute for professional records, written instructions, formal documentation, emergency communication, or advice from a qualified professional.

5. Not Safety-Critical or Guaranteed

Hindsight is not an emergency service, safety-critical system, compliance system, security product, or guaranteed evidence-capture tool.

Do not rely on Hindsight as the only record of important information. Audio may be incomplete, unclear, interrupted, unavailable, or lost.

6. Local Storage and Possible Data Loss

The rolling buffer is temporary. Temporary buffer audio may be lost if Hindsight stops, the phone restarts, Android interrupts the app, battery optimisation interferes, memory pressure occurs, OEM restrictions apply, storage fails, permissions change, a phone call occurs, or you stop Hindsight Mode.

Saved clips are stored locally on your device until you delete them. You are responsible for protecting your device and backing up any saved clips you wish to keep.

7. STOP and the Temporary Buffer

STOP ends Hindsight Mode, stops microphone use for the current session, and clears the temporary rolling buffer. Once you confirm STOP, the temporary buffer cannot be restored.

Saved clips already stored on your device are separate from the temporary buffer and are not deleted by STOP. STOP does not cancel, pause, or change an UnBound subscription.

Users are responsible for saving clips they wish to keep before clearing the temporary buffer.

8. Sharing

Sharing saved clips is an UnBound feature. When you share through Android’s share menu, the file is handled by the app or service you select.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the legal right and any required consent to share, publish, or otherwise disclose the audio.

9. Tethered and UnBound

Tethered is the free plan and supports saved clips of up to 12 minutes.

UnBound is the paid subscription plan and unlocks saving up to the full 95-minute buffer, Range Extractor, and sharing through Android’s share menu. Range Extractor is shown as Range Mode in the app.

UnBound subscriptions are purchased through Google Play and managed using Google Play and RevenueCat. Pricing, billing periods, trials, renewals, cancellation, refunds, and taxes are presented during purchase and are also subject to Google Play’s terms.

You can manage or cancel a subscription through your Google Play account. Removing the app does not necessarily cancel a subscription.

10. Phone Calls

Hindsight does not record phone calls. If a phone call occurs while Hindsight Mode is active, the temporary buffer may continue, but phone-call audio is not saved by Hindsight.

11. Availability and Changes

Features, limits, compatibility, subscription pricing, and availability may change over time. We may update Hindsight to improve safety, comply with platform requirements, fix defects, or change functionality.

We do not promise uninterrupted availability or compatibility with every Android device, manufacturer setting, microphone source, or operating-system version.

12. Children

Hindsight is not designed for children and is not offered as a children’s or family service.

13. Disclaimer and Limitation

To the extent permitted by law, Hindsight is provided on an “as available” basis without guarantees that every moment will be buffered, saved, retained, or shareable.

Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded under applicable consumer law.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms when app behaviour, plans, service providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top identifies the latest version.
