Frequently Asked Questions

Will running the microphone constantly drain my battery?

Hindsight Audio is heavily optimized for modern hardware. We utilize a lightweight, low-power audio pipeline specifically designed for continuous background operation. While any active app uses some power, the impact is comparable to keeping your device connected to a Bluetooth smartwatch, not like streaming a high-definition video.

Is someone listening to my conversations?

Absolutely not. Your audio never leaves your device unless you explicitly hit the "share" button. The voice trigger processing ("Hindsight, capture") is handled entirely by a local, offline AI model running directly on your phone's hardware. There is no cloud processing, no account harvesting, and no central database of your audio.

What happens to the audio when I turn my phone off?

The 90-minute buffer is stored exclusively in your device's volatile memory (RAM). If your phone reboots, loses power, or you force-close the application, the entire rolling buffer is permanently and irreversibly destroyed. It is entirely transient.

What are the legalities of recording conversations?

Hindsight Audio functions as a tool to record your own immediate environment. However, recording laws vary drastically by jurisdiction (often categorized as "one-party consent" or "two-party consent" states/countries). You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of Hindsight Audio complies with your local and national laws. Please ensure you have the appropriate consent from those around you before utilizing background recording.

Why do I have to grant microphone permissions every time?

We believe in zero surprises. While we could ask for permanent permission once, we intentionally designed the app to ask for your explicit acknowledgement at the start of every session. This ensures you always know exactly when the "dashcam" is active and running.
